Hearing on how state laws could aid mass transit development is set

UPPER DARBY A hearing set for Tuesday will look at how state law could better encourage development near mass transportation stops.

A bill introduced by State Sen. Dominic Pileggi (R., Delaware) will attempt to alter the 10-year-old Transit Revitalization Investment District (TRID) Act. TRID encourages transportation agencies and municipalities to better coordinate infrastructure, land use, and development in and around transit areas.

The hearing is to begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Upper Darby Municipal Building, 100 Garrett Rd.

"Encouraging economic development at our transit hubs is only common sense," said State Sen. John C. Rafferty (R., Montgomery). - Mari A. Schaefer
