Matt Sandusky tells Oprah Winfrey about alleged abuse by Jerry Sandusky

Matt Sandusky, the adopted son of Jerry Sandusky, who has said Sandusky molested him as a child, will appear in a televised interview with Oprah Winfrey next week.

In the interview, scheduled to air at 9 p.m. July 17 on Winfrey's OWN Network, Sandusky is expected to give a personal account of the abuse he says he suffered as a child.

It will be his first public interview since his adoptive father's 2012 conviction on child sex-abuse charges.

In a brief video clip posted on Winfrey's website, Sandusky says to Winfrey, "At bedtime, his ritual began."

Winfrey responds by saying, "Did the ritual happen every night?"

Jerry Sandusky, a former Pennsylvania State University assistant football coach, is serving 30 to 60 years for the sexual abuse of 10 boys. He was never charged with abusing his son.

Matt Sandusky, now 35, met Sandusky and his wife, Dottie, through Sandusky's Second Mile charity for at-risk youths. Several years later, he moved in with the Sandusky family and was formally adopted at age 18.

In the final days of Sandusky's 2012 trial, Matt Sandusky told police that Sandusky started abusing him when he was around 10. The allegations prompted Dottie Sandusky to claim her adoptive son was dishonest and mentally ill, and that he had stolen from the family.

In the forthcoming interview, according to Winfrey's website, Matt Sandusky "shares a deeply personal account of the grooming, methodical control and manipulation he faced as a child." He also will respond to Dottie Sandusky's accusations, the site says.

Matt Sandusky is one of 26 men who have been awarded financial settlements with Penn State since the Sandusky trial.
