Authorities in New York state on Friday identified the body of a man found this week in a city park as that of a Temple University student last seen Monday.

Miles Applebaum, 21, a junior enrolled in the Boyer College of Music and Dance who had been on medical leave, was last seen at 9:50 a.m. Monday in New Castle, Westchester County. His body was found around 5 p.m. Thursday in New Castle's Chappaqua Glazier Preserve.

Police on Friday said there were no signs of foul play, and the Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office had not established a cause of death. Test have been ordered, but results could take up to three months, the medial examiner's office said.

A Temple classmate and friend of Applebaum on Friday said the aspiring jazz musician was creative and studious.

"He would always ask questions in class that other people were sometimes afraid to ask, and they always brought up interesting conversations," said Dave Marion, a 2014 graduate who shared jazz gigs with Applebaum. "He was very kind and caring to a lot of people."

Applebaum's parents, Edward and Shari Applebaum, could not be reached Friday. His funeral was set for Sunday in Armonk, N.Y.
