Tredyffrin man charged in fatal overdose

A Tredyffrin man accused of distributing heroin to a friend who fatally overdosed is facing criminal charges, the Chester County District Attorney's Office said Tuesday.

A Tredyffrin man accused of distributing heroin to a friend who fatally overdosed is facing criminal charges, the Chester County District Attorney's Office said Tuesday.

Officials said Dillon Quinn, 19, bought the drugs Aug. 8 at the Overbrook train station in Philadelphia using money given to him by 19-year-old Colin Finn.

Finn, who had taken the train from Paoli and met Quinn at the station, overdosed on heroin the following day in Berwyn, officials said.

Quinn, who officials said did not pay for the drugs but kept some of the heroin for setting up the deal, has been charged with a felony of delivering a drug that resulted in death, among other related offenses. He is being held on $200,000 bail.

"In the end [Quinn] is the one with the connection, and he's the one who took the initiative to drive this deal and to provide the victim with heroin that he otherwise couldn't get," said Christopher De Barrena-Sarobe, an assistant district attorney who leads the office's drug unit.

Officials said Quinn, in text messages to a person cooperating with police, expressed remorse and said he wished he, and not Finn, had died.

"This case is a grim reminder to all heroin dealers and users," District Attorney Thomas Hogan said in a news release. "Heroin will lead you straight to jail or your grave."
