The top lawyer for the Delaware River Port Authority, Danielle Peyakovich McNichol, will leave that post to be director of human resources and in-house counsel for the World Meeting of Families, the organization that is hosting Pope Francis' visit to Philadelphia next year.

McNichol, of Glen Mills, resigned Monday and will leave the DRPA on Friday.

In her new job, McNichol will "help to structure our massive volunteer operation, ensure compliance with government regulations and internal policies, and assist with training programs for staff and volunteers," said Donna Crilley Farrell, executive director of World Meeting of Families.

Before joining the DRPA in April 2012, McNichol was counsel to the chairman of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. She is the wife of John McNichol, chief executive of the Convention Center, and daughter-in-law of longtime Delaware County GOP power broker John McNichol, who died in 2012.
