Children's Chorus to serenade Wolf

Forty students from the Chester Children's Chorus will travel to Harrisburg on Tuesday morning to perform at Tom Wolf's inauguration as governor.

"This is kind of their biggest public stage so far," said Kirsten Halker-Kratz, executive director of the chorus.

The chorus, which has about 140 members, ages 8 through 18, is run by Swarthmore College. All of its singers are students in the Chester Upland School District.

The full chorus will not travel to Harrisburg, but its oldest students will make the trip to perform as one of three groups slated for before the ceremony, Halker-Kratz said. The students will also sing "America the Beautiful" after Wolf's inaugural address.

"They're very excited," Halker-Kratz said. "They're just over the top."

The Renaissance City Choir, a gay and lesbian chorus from Pittsburgh, and the Northeastern High School marching band, a 65-member group from York County, will also perform at Wolf's swearing-in ceremony. - Laura McCrystal
