A New Jersey man was arrested Tuesday for the death of a construction worker on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in June.

Efrain F. Jensen, 28, of Salem, N.J., has been charged with homicide by vehicle and related charges in the June 1 accident in West Pikeland Township.

Police said Jensen was speeding that morning as he drove a tractor trailer westbound on the turnpike in the left lane. When he tried to avoid hitting a vehicle in front of him, he swerved into the closed right lane, which was an active construction zone.

Jensen crashed into the vehicle in front of him, the construction worker and several Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission vehicles in the construction zone, police said.

Construction worker William F. McGuigan, 61, of Glenside was killed. His co-worker, Stephen Rudzik, 48, of Phoenixville suffered moderate injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.

Jensen turned himself in to state police Tuesday morning. He was released on $100,000 unsecured bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 24.
