Funeral arrangements are in place for Officer Robert Wilson III, who was killed in the line of duty last week, funeral home representatives said Thursday.

A viewing for the 22d District officer has been set for 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 13, at Francis Funeral Home, 5201 Whitby Ave., Cedar Park.

A second viewing will be from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at the Palestra, 235 S. 33d St., followed at 10 by a funeral service. Interment is at Fernwood Cemetery, Lansdowne.

The 30-year-old officer, an eight-year veteran of the department, was shot to death last Thursday while buying a video game for his son at a GameStop store in the Swampoodle section of North Philadelphia.

He is survived by sons Quahmier and Robert IV; grandparents Robert Wilson Sr. and Constance Wilson; a sister; a brother; and nieces and nephews.

Carlton Hipps and Ramone Williams allegedly attempted an armed robbery of the store while Officer Wilson was standing at the counter, and engaged in a gun battle with him. Police have said Officer Wilson protected customers by drawing the men's fire toward him.
