Coroner: Bucks official died of natural causes

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP Bristol Township Council President Bob Lewis Jr. died Sunday from natural causes, Bucks County Coroner Joseph Campbell said Tuesday.

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP Bristol Township Council President Bob Lewis Jr. died Sunday from natural causes, Bucks County Coroner Joseph Campbell said Tuesday.

Campbell said his office signed off on the death certificate prepared by Lewis' doctor. The coroner's office did not perform an autopsy.

Lewis, 76, was found unresponsive in his Croydon home. He first served on the council in the 1970s and '80s. He returned to the governing body in 2010 and was elected president in 2012.

Township flags were lowered to half-staff on Monday while colleagues mourned his passing.

"In a day and age when it is difficult to get people involved in their local government, Bob Lewis will be greatly missed," Township Manager William McCauley II said in a news release. "We lost one of the great ones." - Ben Finley
