THORNBURY TWP. A team from Cheyney University placed second Monday in a national quiz competition for historically black colleges and universities.

Students Holland Culbreath, Meredith Morrison, Josh Hughes, and Richard E. Coleman III won a $25,000 grant for the school as runners-up in the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge in Torrance, Calif.

The Cheyney team lost in the finals to students from Prairie View A&M University in Texas, who won a $50,000 grant. Prairie View won two of three games in the final match.

The game-show-style contest featured 48 teams from schools from around the nation. Students answered questions on topics including history, science, sports, and the arts.
