Man arrested after woman's body found buried

A woman's body was found Tuesday morning buried behind a building on a busy stretch of Frankford Avenue and a man was being held in connection with the case, police said.

A woman's body was found Tuesday morning buried behind a building on a busy stretch of Frankford Avenue and a man was being held in connection with the case, police said.

At 11:38 a.m., an officer on foot patrol was flagged down in the 4700 block of Frankford Avenue in the city's Frankford section and was led to the body, police said.

A man in the vicinity was taken into custody after a struggle, which included the man being subdued with a Taser, police said.

The woman's cause of death was pending an autopsy, police said.

The woman's name was not released and it was unclear whether she had been identified. The man's name was also withheld.

Under the roar of the Market-Frankford El, a narrow vacant lot leads to the yard where the body was found.

The yard is located behind a three-story residential building. A woman with two children was seen Tuesday afternoon being allowed into the building by police who were guarding the scene.

Melissa Hernandez, 23, who works at nearby Teddy's Pizza, said the lot should have been closed, "so bodies can't be put into there."

Frantz Dabady, 48, who lives a few blocks away, said he keeps to himself when he walks down this section of Frankford Avenue.

"People have to be careful," he said. "You don't know who's crazy around here."
