A WOMAN WAS killed and her elderly mother was stabbed to death early yesterday morning in a home they shared, according to police.

Authorities responded to the house, on Reynolds Street near Richmond in Bridesburg, at 6:08 a.m. and found the woman, who is in her 50s, suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead by medics at 6:27 a.m. The woman's 74-year-old mother, who had also been stabbed multiple times, was taken to Aria Health's Torresdale hospital, where she remained in critical condition.

The deceased woman's 18-year-old son was also at the house when police arrived. The teen, who had cuts to his hands, told authorities that the family was the victim of a home invasion, although he could not provide a detailed description of the intruders, police said. Authorities said they found what is believed to have been the murder weapon inside of the house.

The teen was also taken to Aria-Torresdale for treatment. Police have not charged anyone in connection with the case, nor have they released a motive.
