Route 202 work in Chesco to continue through 2016

Improvements to Route 202 will be finished by mid-2016, State Sen. Andy Dinniman (D., Chester) said this month.

Improvements to Route 202 will be finished by mid-2016, State Sen. Andy Dinniman (D., Chester) said this month.

The heavily used highway is being widened to three lanes in each direction in Chester County between Route 401 and Route 30. The southbound route was finished in late 2014; the northbound work remains to be completed.

"This project means a smoother, safer, and shorter commute for the thousands of motorists who travel this stretch of Route 202 each day," Dinniman said.

A concrete median and inside shoulders will also be added, and bridges and off-ramps will be reconstructed. Sound walls will be erected in three places and storm-water drainage systems will be installed.

Work on Route 202 since 1999 has yielded more than nine miles of widened and improved roads, the statement said. - Justine McDaniel
