CHESTER COUNTY

Open house for employment needs

EXTON A group that aims to help county young people find work will host an open house April 9 to spread the word on education and training opportunities.

The HOOD: A Partnership for Youth Employment works with the Chester County Workforce Investment Board and the county's Council for the Workforce of Tomorrow to offer services to 14- to 21-year-olds both in or out of school.

The HOOD helps students who are economically disadvantaged and have a physical or learning disability. Those eligible for HOOD services also have some significant barrier to employment, such as being homeless, pregnant, or a foster child.

The group helps people who dropped out of high school pass the high school equivalency exam.

The HOOD will host the open house at the Oaklands Corporate Center. The group moved into its new site there in August. The open house is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 479 Thomas Jones Way, Exton, Suite 350. Chester County commissioners are scheduled to speak around noon.

Those wanting to attend should e-mail Roslyn Roberts at rroberts@chesco.org or call 610-344-6929 by Friday. - Michaelle Bond
