Two people were found dead in their home on a secluded road in Lower Moreland Township on Tuesday afternoon, with wounds from a chainsaw.
Local police and the Montgomery County district attorney said they were investigating one of the deaths as an apparent homicide.
A Lower Moreland police spokesman declined to characterize the nature of the second death or provide more details about the crime.
A news release said police were dispatched to the house on Country Lane near Paper Mill Road in the township's Huntingdon Valley section after a couple's juvenile son called to report he found his parents unresponsive with lacerations delivered by a chainsaw.
The names of the deceased were not released pending notification of family members, police said.
A neighbor who identified himself only as Glen said they were "good, sweet people."
He said that he had known the couple for a while and that they had been divorced.
An autopsy is scheduled at the Montgomery County coroners office for Wednesday.
