Terrie Fleming, 47, was also ordered to pay $6,700 in funeral costs to the family of Ceeana Pate at a sentencing hearing before Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Benjamin Lerner. Assistant District Attorney Thomas Lipscomb said Fleming was immediately taken into custody.
Fleming surrendered to police on Oct. 24, 2013, after she was identified through video as the driver of vehicle that struck Pate as she walked in the bike lane on Clarissa Street in Nicetown. Pate sustained severe head injuries and died five days later.
In January, Fleming pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, homicide by vehicle and leaving an accident involving death or injury. - Joseph A. Slobodzian
