MORTON Two free workshops focusing on how to better navigate the educational system for students with disabilities are being offered by the Delaware County Intermediate Unit.

On April 16, Cathy Ash, a professional development specialist, is set to present a course on Managing Autism at Home and in the Community. It will cover how to help a child in stressful situations, establish a routine, teach self-regulation, and use visual support. It is geared to parents of elementary school age.

On April 29, Strategies for Preventing Problem Behaviors will be lead by Stephanie Szczepkowski, also a professional development specialist. Parents will get tips on how to set and teach expectations, reinforce positive behavior, set boundaries, and establish healthy relationships.

Both workshops will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the unit's office, 200 Yale Ave., Morton.

For more information or to register, contact Nora Connell 610-938-9000, ext. 2263 or e-mail nconnell@dciu.org.
