Source: Three Philly cops expected to be arrested in unrelated incidents

Among three Philadelphia officers expected to be charged with crimes is Officer Christopher Hulmes, who is accused of perjury.

THREE PHILADELPHIA police officers are expected to be arrested today over unrelated incidents, a law-enforcement source told the Daily News last night.

One of the cops, Officer Christopher Hulmes, is expected to be charged with perjury, the source said.

Philadelphia's City Paper reported last summer that Hulmes had lied in court and on a search-warrant affidavit tied to a 2010 drug case - and that the District Attorney's Office dragged its feet on turning over evidence of Hulmes' misconduct to defense attorneys.

Hulmes contended that he had been trying to protect the identity of a drug informant. An Internal Affairs investigation was launched into Hulmes in August, and the veteran narcotics cop was put on desk duty.

The source said the second officer who is expected to be arrested today allegedly confiscated an iPhone from a motorist during a traffic stop - and then kept the phone for his own personal use.

The third officer is expected to face animal-cruelty charges over a dog the officer owned and allegedly neglected, the source said.
