Indego tips for bicyclists

Here, a guide to Indego bikeshare

INDEGO OFFERS three memberships: A 30-day membership for $15 that allows unlimited free trips up to one hour and $4 an hour after that; a $10 annual membership costing $4 a trip up to the first hour and $4 per hour after that, and a no-membership, credit-card option that costs $4 per half-hour.

When you join Indego, in addition to your electronic key and a map, you will find tips on safe and legal bike behavior. Including:

* Bicycles are legal vehicles with the same rights and duties as a motor vehicle.

* Vehicle operators must make sure it is safe to exit. They bear the legal responsibility in dooring incidents.

* State law prohibits the law of headphones while riding a bicycle or driving a car.

* Everyone has a responsibility to share the road.

* Stay off sidewalks. If you are over the age of 12, sidewalk riding is illegal and unsafe.

* Yield to pedestrians.

* Ride with traffic, not against it.

* Obey traffic signs and signals.

* Use your head, wear a helmet.

The bike share program could not figure out a practical way to provide helmets.
