NORRISTOWN Six Montgomery County students have been selected as semifinalists for the Presidential Scholars Program.
Presidential Scholars are selected annually to recognize seniors across the country who excel in academics or arts.
Of the 17 students from Pennsylvania, Montco had the largest contingent. Allegheny County had four. Bucks and Delaware Counties each had one.
Montco's semifinalists are Kevin M. Biju and Michael Minh T. Duong of Methacton High School; Martin F. Schneider and Jay X. Zhou of Upper Dublin High School; Andrew Ge of Wissahickon High School; and Sang Bin Park of Harriton High School.
"These students represent the epitome of academic excellence and have garnered the high honor of being chosen from more than 4,300 candidates from across the country," Pennsylvania Education Secretary Pedro Rivera said in a statement.
Each year, there are about 560 semifinalists nationwide. Up to a quarter of those will be named as finalists at a ceremony in Washington in June. - Jessica Parks
