Nun to speak at Neumann

ASTON TOWNSHIP A Catholic nun who is also a peace, reconciliation, and social-justice advocate is to be Neumann University's 2015 commencement speaker, the university has announced.

Sister Nora Nash, director of corporate social responsibility for the Sisters of St. Francis, is set to address the graduates at 12:30 p.m. Saturday on the south lawn of the university campus.

Nash, a native of Ireland and Neumann graduate, and her colleagues at the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility have taken on Wall Street banks, major retailers, fast-food corporations, and oil companies to discuss issues that include consumer protections, rolling back executive salaries, nuclear arms, farm workers' rights, and the minimum wage.

"She is also very involved with the issues of human trafficking and hydraulic fracturing, advocating passionately on behalf of those without a voice in the legal and corporate spheres of influence," the school said in a statement.
