Philadelphia police have arrested a Hunting Park man in an attempted abduction and rape - both at gunpoint - that took place within an hour of each other this month.

Manuel Cintron, 24, was arrested in Burholme on Monday. Police say he approached a woman on the 1100 block of Ruscomb Street in Logan around 4:20 a.m. May 1, pulled out a handgun, and threatened her. Police said Cintron tried to force the woman into his car, but she fought him off, ran to a bus, and then called police.

About an hour later, police said, Cintron approached another woman on the 2000 block of East York Street in Kensington, pulled out a semiautomatic handgun, and forced her into a minivan.

Police said Cintron drove her some distance away, assaulted her inside the van, and released her at Almond and Boston Streets in Kensington.

Police said Cintron faces charges of rape, sexual assault, indecent assault, kidnapping, false imprisonment, firearms violations, and "a slew of related offenses."
