Gertrude Woodard Taylor, 92, the mother of singer-songwriters James Taylor and Livingston Taylor, died over the weekend in Chilmark, Mass. Her daughter, Kate Taylor, also a singer, told the Vineyard Gazette that their mother died of complications from old age.
Mrs. Taylor, known as Trudy, was surrounded by four generations of family at her home "overlooking her beloved Stonewall Pond" on Martha's Vineyard, James Taylor said on his website.
"She devoted her life to her marriage and her five children, four boys and a girl," James Taylor posted on his website. Four of those children - Alex (who died in 1993), James, Kate, and Livingston - became professional musicians.
