WIC clinic to celebrate makeover

UPPER DARBY The Delaware County WIC Program in Upper Darby is to show off its new digs at a grand reopening celebration next week.

The clinic underwent a complete renovation that included adding three exam rooms, new floors, and additional offices, according to Aubrey Proud, a spokesperson.

The staff is to be on hand at the Tuesday event to welcome guests from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. There will be light refreshments and activities for children.

The WIC - women, infants and children - program provides nutrition education, nutritious food, breast-feeding support, and health care referrals.

The clinic is in the Barclay Shopping Center, 1500 Garrett Rd., Suite 20, behind the Crozer Keystone Outpatient Center for Therapy and Sports Medicine.

Delaware County has two other WIC locations: 2600 W. Ninth St. in Chester and 1260 E. Woodland Ave., Suite 211, in Springfield. In September, the program served 9,454 clients at the three county locations, said Proud.
