DUI patrol to operate on Wednesday night

SOUTHAMPTON Bucks County Chief of Prosecution Matt Weintraub and Upper Southampton Police Lt. Craig Rudisill were high school friends, classmates, or teammates of four Bucks County teenagers who were killed in a crash in 1985 in Southampton.

The teen driver, who was intoxicated, survived and was prosecuted in his friends' deaths.

On Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Veterans Field, 400 Street Rd., Weintraub is scheduled to speak on the impact that incident had on him and the community. It is to be part of a formal announcement that a roving Thanksgiving Eve DUI patrol is to be in operation Wednesday in lower Bucks County.

According to a statement from the District Attorney's Office, nine police departments and the District Attorney's Office are to hold "the first of what will be a series of similar DUI prevention and enforcement events throughout the county in the coming year."

According to the District Attorney's Office, more than 300 people died in crashes across the country during the 2013 Thanksgiving weekend. - Inquirer staff
