BB gun found, 1 in custody in incident near schools

Police took a middle school student into custody after he allegedly was seen with a BB gun near two Philadelphia public schools Friday morning.

Philadelphia police said a brief lockdown was in place after someone reported seeing a person with a gun by Lincoln High School and Austin Meehan Middle School, which are located near each other on Ryan Avenue in the city's Mayfair section.

Officers stopped two males and at least one, a student at Austin Meehan whose name was not released, was taken into custody, police said.

No one was injured.
