School lockdowns end after manhunt for Wayne robber

Radnor Township Police on Thursday afternoon were still seeking help in identifying an armed robbery suspect who earlier in the day forced three schools and one college in the area into lockdown.

On Thursday morning around 9:30 a.m., police said, a light-skinned black male of thin muscular build approached two men backing a car into a residential driveway along the 100 block of Pine Tree Road in Radnor. The suspect, described as between 5-foot-ten to 6 feet, brandished a gun and demanded money from the men before fleeing the scene, police said.

The incident prompted police to ask at least three Radnor-area schools and one college to lock down their campuses. Radnor High School, Radnor Elementary School and Archbishop John Carroll High School complied, as did Cabrini College. All lockdowns were lifted around 11 a.m., about one hour later.

According to police, the suspect was last seen running south on foot on Pine Tree Road toward King of Prussia Road. At the time, they said, he was wearing a black zip-up nylon jacket with a hood and gray pants.

Police are offering a $7,500 reward to anyone who can provide more information. Residents are asked to call Radnor Detectives at 610-688-0503 or email detectives@radnor.org.
