Man killed crossing Byberry Road

A 73-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle about 6:30 p.m. Saturday as he was crossing Byberry Road at Proctor Road in the Somerset section of Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

A 73-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle about 6:30 p.m. Saturday as he was crossing Byberry Road at Proctor Road in the Somerton section of Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

The man, who was not identified, was hit by a dark blue 2007 Honda Odyssey traveling eastbound on Byberry. Authorities say that dark blue vehicle then struck a westbound 2009 Chevy Impala. Both vehicles remained at the scene. Police are investigating the incident.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at 7:31 p.m. at Aria-Torresdale Hospital.
