Parks to get makeovers
UPPER DARBY Three Upper Darby Township parks are to get a makeover, thanks to a $10,000 grant.
The parks - Guilford Road Park, Aberdeen Road Park and Michele Park - are all in the southeast section of the township. Funding is to allow for improvements that could include pathways, benches, lighting, plantings, and gazebos.
Mayor Thomas N. Micozzie said that open space preservation is a priority because there "are very few opportunities, if any, to purchase or develop new recreational space."
The grant, from Peco's Green Region Open Space Program, is used for passive recreation to conserve open space. The Natural Lands Trust helps facilitate the grants. - Mari A. Schaefer
