Pedestrian fatally hit on Roosevelt Blvd.

A pedestrian was fatally hit by a car on Roosevelt Boulevard early Monday morning. Philadelphia police said the 48-year-old man was struck near Harbison Avenue at about 5:40 a.m.

Philadelphia police said the 48-year-old man was struck near Harbison Avenue at about 5:40 a.m.

Preliminary information indicated the man was trying to cross the road when he was hit, police said.

The man, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, who remained at the scene, wasn't injured, police said, adding no other vehicles were involved.

No charges had been filed against the driver as of Monday afternoon and police said the initial investigation indicated he was not impaired at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
