Police are investigating a fatal car crash that killed a Quakertown man early Sunday morning in Horsham.

Erik Detweiler, 25, was the passenger in a Hyundai when it crashed with a tractor trailer at Route 611 and County Line Road in Horsham just after 2 a.m. Sunday.

Detweiler was riding in the passenger seat of a Hyundai turning left from Route 611 onto County Line Road at the time of the crash, Montgomery County First Assistant District Attorney Kevin Steele said in a news release. The tractor trailer was traveling southbound on Route 611.

Officers responded to the scene at 2:12 a.m. Sunday. Detweiler, trapped in the passenger seat, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Hyundai, from Souderton, was not identified by police. He was transported to Abington Memorial Hospital for treatment after the accident and was later released, Steele said. Officials said the tractor-trailer driver is from New Jersey and has cooperated with police, including providing a blood sample.

Investigators will analyze both drivers' blood samples taken after the crash to determine if they were under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
