Police: SEPTA train death was apparent suicide

A 38-year-old South Jersey man was struck and killed Wednesday night in Haverford Township by a Norristown high speed train, in what police are calling an apparent suicide.

A 38-year-old South Jersey man was struck and killed Wednesday night in Haverford Township by a Norristown high speed train, in what police are calling an apparent suicide.

The victim, a resident of Mays Landing, was not identified pending notification of kin.

Witnesses told Haverford Township police the man park his car in a lot near the Ardmore Junction station about 10:45 p.m., walked up the embankment and onto the tracks. As the outbound train approached, the man lay down on the tracks. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not find a suicide note.
