New Jersey state troopers pulled a body out of the Mullica River in Washington Township, Burlington County, on Saturday, authorities said.

The dead person - whose identity was not yet known - was spotted by two fishermen shortly before 11 a.m., Capt. Stephen Jones, a state police spokesman, said. Marine troopers pulled the adult body out of the river by the Hog Islands, he said.

The gender of the person was not released. It looked as if the person had "been in the water for a little while," Jones said.

Police will be working with investigators in major crimes and who work on missing people to try to determine the person's identity.
