Police have arrested a man for allegedly gunning down and killing man in North Philadelphia in September - and, a month later, trying to kill another man who knew about the earlier slaying.
Tony Tillman, 26, was charged with murder and weapons offenses in the Sept. 18 death of Aaron Walker, 34. The violence broke out about 9:15 that night in the 2600 block of North 7th Street, and Walker died 20 minutes later at Temple University Hospital.
Police also charged Tillman with an Oct. 8 shooting on the 600 block of West Huntingdon Street in Hartranft. That victim, a witness in his earlier case, survived. Tillman is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, retaliation against a witness, simple assault and weapons offenses in that case, according to court records.
Tillman, who was taken into custody on Tuesday, has a long history of arrests for assault and drug and weapon offenses, court records show. He faces a March 30 preliminary hearing in both cases.
Police did not release a motive for the fatal shooting.
