A Drexel Hill couple are facing criminal charges after police busted a weekend house party brimming with several hundred teenagers and alcohol.
Abdul Ahmaddiya, 54, and Nichelle Davis-Ahmaddiya, 45, were charged with corruption of minors and furnishing alcohol. Nearly 300 teenagers were partying Saturday night at their home on the 3900 block of Mary Street, Upper Darby Police Superintendent Mike Chitwood said Monday.
Police also cited a 17-year-old girl who lives in the house for alleged consumption and possession of alcohol. Chitwood said the girl is believed to be their daughter.
Chitwood said the 17-year-old girl had promoted the party on social media, and neighbors called police to report loud music and the smell of alcohol and marijuana.
When eight officers arrived, hundreds of kids "began running through yards, knocking over fences and climbing out of windows," Chitwood said.
Ahmaddiya answered the door, Chitwood said, and confronted and lambasted the officers.
Reached by phone Monday night, Ahmaddiya declined comment. His attorney, Joseph A. Malley III, could not be reached Monday evening.
"Underage drinking parties - we deal with those all the time," Chitwood said. "But when parents are involved, condoning it and basically supporting it ... that's a whole different ball game."
