Man found dead at Wissinoming paper company

Authorities are investigating after a man was found dead under a pile of boxes at a Wissinoming paper company.

Philadelphia police said investigators were called to Newman & Company Paperboard, located at 6101 Tacony St., shortly before 10:30 a.m. Monday after an employee found the man under the boxes.

The man, whose identity wasn't known, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:43 a.m., police said.

It wasn't immediately known how he died. The medical examiner was called to the business.

The incident happened a little more than a month after a worker at the company suffered a leg injury when he was trapped under a bale of paper while operating equipment.
