Shootings in Hunting Park leave two men in critical

Two men were each left in critical condition in unrelated shootings in the city's Hunting Park section.

In the first attack, just after 1:30 p.m. at Seventh Street and Hunting Park Avenue, a 43-year-old man was shot multiple times, police said. Police took the man to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed critical condition.

About five hours later, a 33-year-old man was shot in the back while in the area of Seventh and Luzerne Streets. That shooting happened just before 6:30 p.m. The victim was also taken by police to Temple, where he, too, was in critical condition.

The names of the wounded men were not released, and police reported no arrests in either case.

Teen critical after being shot several times in S. Phila.

Philadelphia police on Monday were investigating a South Philadelphia shooting that left a teenager critically wounded overnight.

Officers called to Moore and Hollywood Streets shortly before midnight Sunday found a 17-year-old boy suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his leg and back, police said.

He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in critical condition. No information about a motive or any suspects was available. - Emily Babay

Motives, suspects sought in 2 separate Phila. slayings

Philadelphia police on Monday were continuing to search for suspects in two weekend killings in the city. Authorities identified one of the victims, and said the motives for both homicides, which happened early Sunday, remained unknown.

The first happened just after 1:15 a.m. on the 5400 block of Old York Road in Logan, where an unidentified man was shot in an arm, a hip, and the chest. He was taken to Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:04 a.m., police said.

In the second slaying, authorities identified 49-year-old Andre White as the man stabbed to death on the 3600 block of Aspen Street in Mantua about 2 a.m. He was pronounced dead at Penn Presbyterian at 2:37 a.m.

No arrests have been made in either case, and no information on any suspects was available. - Emily Babay
