Man fatally struck by train near SEPTA's Fern Rock station

A 26-year-old man was killed Friday after he was struck by a SEPTA Regional Rail train just north of the Fern Rock Transportation Center.

A 26-year-old man was killed Friday after he was struck by a SEPTA Regional Rail train just north of the Fern Rock Transportation Center.

Police said that about 11:45 a.m., the man was walking between the inbound and outbound railroad tracks near Godfrey Avenue, at the border of Fern Rock and Olney, when he was struck by a West Trenton Line train headed south to the Fern Rock Transportation Center, at 9th Street and Nedro Avenue.

The man, whose name police were not releasing because the incident is considered an accident, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:05 p.m.

It was not clear why he was walking in between the tracks. The police Accident Investigation District is investigating.

Service on the West Trenton, Lansdale/Doylestown, Warminster Regional Rail Lines was suspended north of the Fern Rock station for about two hours after the incident.
