Tyree Mansell was released from federal prison last March after doing time for a 2010 home-invasion robbery of a Delaware County businessman.

Less than three months later, prosecutors say, he was back to his old ways.

Mansell, 37, of Philadelphia, and two other men were charged Thursday in federal court with committing a home-invasion robbery of a Delaware County businesswoman. His codefendants are Sterling Wallace, 27, of Philadelphia, and Jamain Wallace, 26, of Yeadon.

On June 15, 2015, the three men and a 17-year-old boy allegedly targeted the Broomall home of an East Lansdowne bar owner.

They rang the doorbell and the woman's teenage son answered, authorities said. They forced their way inside and pistol-whipped the boy.

The woman was forced at gunpoint to open her safe, and the men took jewelry and $61,000 in cash, according to court records. The woman and her son were then forced to lie on their stomachs while their hands and feet were bound with electrical wire and cloth.

As the perpetrators tried to flee in a gold Lexus, they were stopped by Marple Township police. Two men tried to run but were quickly caught. The teen remained in the car and was arrested.

Mansell escaped, but law enforcement tracked him via his cellphone to a Charlotte, N.C., restaurant, where he was arrested after a brief struggle.

The three men were charged with Hobbs Act robbery, conspiracy, and weapons charges.

If convicted of all charges, they face a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years in prison, and a maximum of life.
