The criminal trial of Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane is on track to begin Aug. 8 in Norristown, lawyers said Monday.

After a closed-door conference with Montgomery County Court Judge Wendy Demchick-Alloy, attorneys on both sides said they had resolved pretrial matters.

Kane's attorney, Gerald Shargel, said he expected jury selection to last from one to two days. Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele said he expected the trial to last about a week.

Demchick-Alloy will hold a final pretrial motions hearing July 26, according to an order issued Monday.

Also Monday, Kane added a Philadelphia-based lawyer to her defense team. Douglas K. Rosenblum of Pietragallo, Gordon, Alfano, Bosick & Raspanti filed a notice of appearance. Rosenblum is part of his firm's white-collar criminal defense team. He was an assistant district attorney from 2004 until 2008 in Montgomery County, where Kane is facing prosecution.

Kane, a Democrat, is accused of leaking secret grand jury information to embarrass a former prosecutor in her office and later lying about it under oath. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include perjury and false swearing.

Kane's law license has been suspended as she awaits trial. She is not running for a second term as the state's top prosecutor; her term ends in January.
