A pregnant woman was one of two people shot and wounded at Eighth and Luzerne Streets in Hunting Park Friday night, police said Saturday.
The 31-year-old woman, who was about seven weeks pregnant, was shot in her abdomen and was taken into surgery at Temple University Hospital, police said. There was no immediate word on the condition of her unborn child.
The woman was among a group of people attending a candlelight vigil for a relative who died when shots rang out at about 7 p.m. near the street corner, police said.
A 26-year-old man was also shot, police said. The man, shot in his left shoulder, was taken by private vehicle to Temple. The woman was taken to the hospital by medics. Both were in stable condition Friday night.
No arrest has been made, but police said the gunman was described as black, in his late 20s to 30s, and about 5-feet-6, with a "thick build."
The gunman allegedly fled in a white SUV.
