A 26-year-old Delaware County man was sentenced Wednesday to a minimum five years in prison for straw purchasing firearms, the district attorney said Thursday.
James Cimabue, of the 200 block of Llewelyn Road in Chester Heights, purchased five firearms, including two AK-47s, and then resold them without a federal firearms license, said District Attorney Jack Whelan.
Cimabue was sentenced under the Brad Fox Law, which mandates a minimum five-year sentence for buying weapons on behalf of another person.
The law is named for a police officer in Plymouth Township, Montgomery County, who was shot to death in 2012 by a man who obtained his gun through a straw purchaser.
