One dead in Christmas morning crash in South Philly

A man was killed in a car crash at Broad Street and Washington Avenue in South Philadelphia early Christmas morning.

The driver who was killed in a Christmas morning crash in South Philadelphia was identified Tuesday by police.

Antwaine Devoe, 29 of the 200 block of S. 12th St., drove a 2010 Honda Accord through a red light at Broad St. and Washington Ave. at 1:35 a.m., and collided with a 2012 Kia before he knocked down a traffic pole and fire hydrant and came to rest on the sidewalk, police said. He was pronounced dead at Jefferson University Hospital at 7:13 a.m.

The driver of the Kia, a 32-year-old man, was in stable condition at Jefferson, according to police.

The Kia was southbound on Broad Street when it was struck on the front driver's side by the Honda, which was westbound on Washington Avenue, police said.
