Two men were in extremely critical condition after being shot while they sat in a tow truck in the city's Tacony section Friday night, police said.

About 8:15 p.m., two unidentified males approached the passenger side of the tow truck parked at Hegerman Street and Unruh Avenue, opened the door and began shooting inside, said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Police responding to the shooting found a 28-year-old, who had been sitting in the passenger seat, on the ground with a gunshot wound to his head, Small said. He was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital.

A 48-year-old man who was sitting in the driver seat was also found on the ground nearby with several gunshot wounds to his body, Small said. He was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale Campus.

The entire incident was captured on surveillance video, Small said. Police found two shell spent shell casings inside the tow truck on the passenger side and three more just outside.

One of the victims had a gun still in a holster when he was shot, Small said.
