Bicyclist fatally struck by car in North Philadelphia
Vijay Mohan, 26, was struck and killed by a car as he rode his bicycle near Ridge and Girard Avenues in North Philadelphia.
A 26-year-old man died early Sunday after he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle in North Philadelphia.
The man was crossing Girard Avenue, near Ridge, shortly after midnight, when he was hit by a 1993 Buick Roadmaster traveling west on Girard, police said.
He suffered multiple fractures and head trauma, and was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he died about 2:45 a.m., police said.
Authorities identified the man as Vijay Mohan, of the 1300 block of North 26th Street.
The Buick driver, whose identity was not disclosed, stayed on the scene after the crash and was taken to Hahnemann for complaints of neck pain, police said.
It wasn't immediately clear whether charges would be filed.
