Bolaris: Plan for smudge of storms on otherwise glorious Labor Day weekend

What a magnificent start to the unofficial end of summer — I hate saying that: A beautiful, crisp dome of high pressure has descended upon the Delaware Valley.

Glorious sunshine and low humidity will keep its presence felt for those get-out-of-towners Friday. From the Poconos to the shore, golden rays will fill the skies along with pleasantly mild temperatures.

On Saturday, the sun will remain glowing, but at times it could get filtered out a bit by an approaching warm front.  By Sunday, the backside of the high pressure system will usher in a dramatic increase in heat and humidity as the 90 degree mark should be reached, a not to common occurrence this summer.

Showers and storms will arrive Sunday night.

A cool front bumping into the warm and unstable air on Sunday will lead to scattered showers and storms developing on Sunday night. Right now, my thinking is most of the showers and storms should move away on Monday, with just the chance of a leftover shower Monday morning.

In summary most of your outdoor plans will be rain-free this holiday weekend as the best chance of showers and storms will arrive around sunset — earlier in the city's western suburbs — on Sunday evening.
