Bolaris: With weekend snow, 2013-14 now tied for third snowiest

Fear not though, a warming trend is on the way.
But, for now, it's cold. Overnight into early this morning, we saw lows of 10 to 15 degrees and a few places north and west of Philadelphia greeted by temperatures as low as zero to 9 degrees. Highs today - President's Day - should be around freezing.
By early Tuesday morning, from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m., we're looking at a thin band of light snow associated with a storm system heading into western New York state that will produce a coating to an inch in the city, with one to three inches as you head north of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Any snow should move away with a return to sunshine by noon. Temperatures will rise to 40 degrees helping to melt the latest annoying tap by Mother Nature.
During the second half of the week Thursday into Friday, temperatures will rise to at least 50 on Thursday, and then rise overnight Thursday into Friday as temperatures actually hitting 60 degrees (!!!), especially across Philly, southern New Jersey and Delaware.
But you will need the umbrella on Friday as rain will be with us. Rain will move out Friday evening with another — you guessed it — another shot of arctic air.
By next week we go back to a bunch of uncertainties as the stormy cycle might kick back in and take us through the end of February into the very start of March.
On the plus side, I can predict with certainty that baseball's Opening Day is about six weeks away. So keep your eye on that long term forecast!
