Police locate parents of boy, 2, found wandering LOVE Park alone
A 2-year-old boy was found barefoot and wandering alone in Center City's LOVE Park late Friday night.
Police on Saturday located the parents of a 2-year-old boy found barefoot and wandering alone in Center City's LOVE Park the night before.
The child was dressed only in a green long-sleeved shirt, black running pants, and a diaper when he was discovered inside the park at 1501 John F. Kennedy Boulevard around 11:50 p.m. Friday, police said.
Medics took him to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to be evaluated.
The child's 27-year-old mother and 24-year-old father contacted authorities to report him missing a short time later, police said.
The couple told investigators that they, their son, and his 4-year-old sister were spending the night in LOVE Park because they had been kicked out of the place where they had been staying.
At some point, the rest of the family fell asleep, and the 2-year-old walked away. His parents were still sleeping in another part of the park when he was found and did not realize he was gone, police said.
The boy and his sister were both placed in the custody of the Department of Human Services. Neither their identities nor those of their parents were released.
No charges had been filed Saturday evening. The Philadelphia police Special Victims Unit was continuing to investigate.
