Boy, 5, extremely critical after near drowning at Cobbs Creek Recreation Center

A child is in extremely critical condition after he was pulled from a city recreation center pool unconscious, according to an initial police report.

The unidentified boy, 5, was taken from the Cobbs Creek Recreation Center in the 200 block of Cobbs Creek Parkway in West Philadelphia shortly after 2 p.m., the report said.

It is unknown why the boy was found unconscious in the public pool. Officers remain at the rec center.
