I-676, ramp reopen after crash

A stretch of the Vine Street Expressway and a ramp from the roadway onto the Schuylkill Expressway have reopened after having been shut down for more than six hours due to a crash.

PennDOT said shortly after 11:30 a.m. that westbound Interstate 676 between the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and Interstate 76 had reopened.

The highway, as well as the ramp from westbound I-676 to eastbound I-76, had been closed since shortly after the 5 a.m. wreck.

Traffic on both the Vine and Schuylkill expressways was backed up for hours as authorities responded to the scene.
